Prize Day 2009
Prize Day, a major event in our school calendar, took place on the 6th November 2009. The very entertaining address by Mr Wilbur McKee, the choir’s excellent performance and the opportunity to reward pupils for their hard work throughout the previous year, all combined to make it a memorable and extremely enjoyable occasion. Many pupils, past and present, received trophies and awards for their academic and sporting achievements, however there were one or two students who were particularly laden down with silverware. Just some of the prizes Nicole Young won were; three GCSE subject prizes, Sports Person of Year 12, the Colin Adair Cup for the best overall GCSEs and the Betty McClurg Cup (Portadown Campus) for the pupil contributing most to school life. Amongst Jordan Jackson’s and Rebecca Johnston’s achievements was the James A Wightman Award for best performance at GCSE (Portadown Campus). Victoria Laird (Lurgan Campus) was awarded the Campus Cup for best overall performance in GCSEs and Megan Weatherall scooped an armful of sports awards, including the Betty McClurg Cup (Lurgan Campus). Poignantly, Deputy Head Boy, Jamie Stevenson, was posthumously awarded his GCSE certificates. The certificates were proudly collected on Jamie’s behalf by his sister and they are a testament to his determination to succeed despite having many medical problems.

A huge congratulations goes to all 2009 award recipients.
