School life consists of more than the taught curriculum and at Craigavon Senior High School we place a very strong emphasis on the value of extra-curricular activities in developing social skills, self-esteem and the ability to work as part of a team. Examples of the range of activities on offer include the following.
A wide variety of sports and leisure activities are available:
In addition pupils have the opportunity to participate in after school clubs. These include:
• Art Club
These lists vary from time to time, please check with staff if you have a query about a particular extra-curricular activity or club.
Pupils are provided with a variety of opportunities for school trips, both local and international. Recent trips have included the annual ski trip and a visit to the battlefields of the Somme.
Duke of Edinburgh
Pupils have the opportunity to undertake the Bronze Level Duke of Edinburgh Award. The award has four sections; Volunteering, Physical, Skills and Expedition. Participants must do a minimum of 3 months activity for each of the first three sections and plan, train for and do a 2 day (1 night) expedition.
We encourage our pupils to become involved in a variety of charitable ventures. Such involvement develops the values of sharing and respect for others and encourages social responsibility and a sense of citizenship.
Cross Community Activities
The school recognises its responsibility towards helping to heal community division and welcomes opportunities for involvement in cross community activities.
The school choir comes together to support special events such as Prize Day. The Christmas season also offers opportunities for the choir to contribute to the life of the school.
