Business Communications Systems Why study Business and Communications Systems?
Business and Communications Systems is a pupil friendly course that includes a mixture of both theory and practical computer tasks. It meets the need on the part of all pupils to develop practical computing skills and provides a valuable experience for those who are either entering the world of work or intend to continue into further and higher education. Course Content
Theory (33% of total grade)
• Business Environment - the aims and objectives of a business • Workplace Organisation - the importance of effective office organisation • Human Resources - recruitment, selection and training procedures in business • Communication - the importance of effective communication in business • ICT in Business Environment - impact of ICT on business
Practical (67% of total grade)
Pupils will use appropriate software to enable them complete the following units.
• File Management • Word Processing • Spreadsheets • Charts • Databases • Graphics and Clipart Assessment
The scheme of assessment consists of two tiers:
• Foundation Tier Grades C - G inclusive • Higher Tier Grades A* - D
Each tier consists of two examination papers - No coursework
• Paper 1 - Theory 33% • Paper 2 - Practical, using a computer 67%
