Motor Vehicle Studies
Why study Motor Vehicles and Road User Studies?
Motor Vehicle and Road User Studies aims to equip young people with the skills necessary to cope with road and driving conditions in Northern Ireland today. You will gain a greater understanding of road safety and, through practical riding classes, develop techniques which will help to keep you safer on the roads. Young people with an interest in vehicle mechanics will also improve their understanding of the workings of the various types of engines.

Topics covered include:
• The Highway Code
• Alcohol abuse with reference to the road user
• Legal requirements for the road user
• Motoring mathematics – the buying and selling of vehicles
• Post accident procedure
• Motor Vehicle technology

Assessment
The scheme of assessment consists of two tiers:
• Foundation tier Grades C - G inclusive
• Higher tier Grades A* - D

Each tier consists of one examination paper and coursework. The marks are allocated as follows:
• Examination Paper 60%
• Investigative Study 20%
• Practical Riding 20%
